Agentic Organizations: Redefining Teams and the Marketplace
As we enter 2026, the boundary between human and machine agency is dissolving. Organizations are no longer just using AI; they are orchestrating a shared cast of humans and autonomous agents.
Launched at a high-level discussion hosted by Hotwire with Page participating during the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, this report explores a world where AI is shifting from a background tool to an autonomous force. Based on a survey of 900 global professionals and expert interviews, the research maps the emergence of "Agentic Organizations"—entities where the capacity to act and influence outcomes is increasingly shared with machines.
The Internal Shift: The Agentic Enterprise
Inside the organization, AI is moving through three phases: Assist, Share, and Autonomy.
- Shared Agency: 21% of professionals already view AI as a colleague, and 14% describe it as a decision-maker.
- Empowerment vs. Erosion: While 69% of workers feel more empowered by AI, 56% believe it could perform most or all of their job within five years.
- Management Comfort: Strikingly, 43% of respondents would be comfortable being managed by an AI that assigns tasks and reviews performance.
The External Shift: The Agentic Brand
In the marketplace, brands are increasingly speaking to the machines that speak to people.
- The New Customer Interface: 82% of consumers rely on AI tools for shopping, travel, or entertainment decisions.
- Autonomous Commerce: One-third of consumers would trust an AI assistant to make purchases on their behalf without checking every step.
- Generative Engine Optimization (GEO): Brands must now optimize for "algorithmic gatekeepers" who interpret, filter, and prioritize what customers see.
